I've been taking things apart, figuring out how they work, and putting them back together for as long as I can remember.
That curiosity eventually became a career in technology — from DOS, early PCs and networking to web design, enterprise infrastructure, virtualization, cloud systems and now artificial intelligence.
The technology has changed dramatically. What hasn't changed is the part I enjoy most: solving problems, building useful things and learning what comes next.
What started as an interest in computers grew into a career spanning decades of change in the technology industry.
In 1996, I started Webweaver.com as a web design and technology business, eventually building websites and supporting technology for dozens of clients. Alongside that work, my career moved deeper into systems administration, networking, servers, storage, virtualization and enterprise infrastructure.
I've worked through an extraordinary evolution — from standalone PCs and dial-up connections to data centers, virtualization, cloud computing and today's AI systems. I've administered everything from small-business networks to enterprise infrastructure, but I've always been most at home close to the technology, figuring out how things work and making them work better.
Technology has been a big part of my life, but it isn't the whole story.
Family has always mattered more than the machines. As I've gotten older, I've become increasingly interested in preserving the stories, photographs and experiences that connect one generation to the next. That interest eventually became LifeHistory — a project using AI to help capture personal and family history before those stories disappear.
I also enjoy photography, working around the house, experimenting with the homelab, and occasionally building things simply because I want to know whether I can.
And like any properly managed technology operation, mine is subject to unscheduled interruptions from Rocky, who maintains very strict service-level requirements concerning dinner.
Thirty years on the web and even longer around computers, I'm still learning, experimenting and wondering what I can build next.
Some projects solve practical problems. Some preserve pieces of the past. Others exist simply because something made me wonder, “Can I make that work?”
That's what Webweaver is today — a place to share some of what I've built, what I've learned, and whatever comes next.
